We will work with you and your family to create your personalised, continuously reviewed care plan. This is the key document that determines your care and support. Together with you and your family, we will identify your needs, preferences and the things we need to know to support you. This is all recorded on your care plan.
We appreciate the value in involving your family members, relatives and friends in your care plan, and we will always (with your permission) invite your family and friends to participate in the care planning process. We also recognise that some people find that this is something they prefer to keep to themselves, and that’s fine too.
If your current GP is willing to visit you at the home, we’re very happy for you to maintain that relationship. Alternatively, we have visiting GPs who are pleased to come and see you. Each GP visits the home on a regular basis, or at your request, and will be able to take care of your prescription needs.
If you would like to manage your own medicines, and it is safe to do so, we will provide lockable facilities and staff support for you as needed. If you prefer, or if it’s assessed as safer, our trained staff will keep your medication in a safe place, and give it to you at the times stated on the prescription. We’ll discuss all aspects of your medication with you when we develop your care plan.
You will be able to call upon the services of a wide range of specialist practitioners who either visit the home on a regular basis, or have a practice within the surrounding area, which can easily be visited for consultation. For example, you will have access to dentists, opticians and a podiatrist.
Our staff can help you with personal tasks such as letter writing, form filling, completing voting papers, and planning your shopping needs.
Food is so important and we have an excellent team of kitchen staff who offer a wide range of meals to provide a nutritious, appetising and well-balanced diet. Menus are planned on a weekly basis, and displayed in the dining areas. We are able to cater for your particular likes and dislikes, offering different dishes to suit your tastes. There is always a choice and alternatives at every meal time. If you need, or want a specialised diet, including vegetarian and vegan dishes, these are also available.
Our chef will meet with you to talk through your likes and dislikes and will talk to you about your food preferences when drawing up your care plan. If you’d like to see a sample menu, let us know.
Hot and cold drinks are available throughout the day and night, and are also served mid-morning, mid-afternoon and at bedtime to residents who would like them. Snacks such as sandwiches, yogurts, ice cream and more, are available on request throughout the day and night.
Our staff serve your meals in our spacious, light and airy dining rooms. Sometimes you might choose to eat in your own room, and that’s fine too, we’ll provide a tray service for you.
Our dedicated and highly trained staff specialise in supporting your lifestyle and promoting well- being for all our residents. They are passionate about the invaluable role they perform within the group.
The team organise a wide range of entertainment events and activities, both inside and outside the home. This includes film shows, bakery, art and other pastimes. We encourage you to participate in as many of these activities as you would like. If you have particular interests and hobbies that we don’t currently cater for, then just let us know and we’ll do everything we can to accommodate them.
All religious events, birthdays and social events are celebrated at Norton Lees Care Home throughout the year. We can arrange for small parties to be catered for if you would like to celebrate your birthday or an anniversary with members of your family in the home.
